Elantra Demand Through the Roof

The next-generation 2011 Hyundai Elantra, which went on sale in December, marks the first American-made iteration of the popular compact. It is manufactured with the Sonata sedan at Hyundai's U.S. assembly plant in Montgomery, Alabama. Hyundai Betting on New Elantra

The Hyundai Sonata has already seen sales reach almost 200,000 this year. It's up 65% for the year, according to statistic source Autodata. Hyundai thinks their Elantra compact could see similar growth.

The new Elantra contains a 148-horsepower engine and six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, which achieve 40 miles per gallon in highway driving, 17% over the previous model. Its new look offers some of the greatest aerodynamics in the segment.
